Things to do in Fort Wayne
Never been to Fort Wayne before? If you're planning to spend some time in town before or after the wedding, there is plenty to do. Right next to the Hilton is the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory, which showcases a tropical garden with a waterfall and a desert garden. The botanical garden's special exhibit at the time of the wedding will be Flower Power: Summer of Love, a flower display inspired by 1960s counter culture.
There is also the Fort Wayne Museum of Art. Along with their permanent collection, the museum will be hosting a special exhibit in September called We are the Ship: The Story of Negro League Baseball, featuring Kadir Nelson's paintings. You can also find the History Center in downtown Fort Wayne, which features artifacts from the Miami tribe village of Kekionga and Little Turtle, an Anthony Wayne exhibit, and an exhibit that features inventions developed in Fort Wayne.
Northeastern Indiana is also Amish country, so if you're interested in venturing outside of town, 15 miles northwest of Fort Wayne is Grabill, Indiana, an Amish settlement with shops and farm tours. Southeast of Fort Wayne you'll find Amishville, USA, located near Geneva and Berne, that features tours and a campground.

Flying to Fort Wayne?
Since a number of our wedding guests will be flying in from out of state, we wanted to give you a little bit of information on transportation in the area. The Fort Wayne International Airport is on the smaller side, but American, Delta, and United all fly into that airport. While it may be a little more expensive to fly into the Fort Wayne airport directly, renting a car won't be necessary (unless you want to!). The First Presbyterian Church and the Hilton are 3 blocks apart, and the reception hall (The Freemason Hall) is one block from the Hilton. The reception hall and the Hilton also share a parking structure. The Courtyard by Marriott is 3 blocks from the reception hall and 6 blocks from the church. Both hotels offer free shuttles to and from the airport; they suggest calling a few days ahead with your flight information so they'll know when to expect you.

Two weekends of filming, and many solid days of editing (all by Theo) later, our Save the Date Trailer is finally ready for its premiere!

Vote for us!
As readers of this blog know, Theo and I enter a lot of social media contests, and our friends are nice enough to humor us by voting. Beginning with the Ultimate Thailand Explorers contest in 2009, we then entered the Crate and Barrel Ultimate Wedding contest last year, and then Theo entered the 670 The Score search contest this past summer. Then Theo won a position as one of the Indianapolis Colts fan mascots for the wild card playoff game against the Jets.
Well, we're at it again. Theo and I have entered the Crate and Barrel contest for a second year, hoping to prove our worthiness for a C&B prize this year with a stronger entry and some more social media experience. We would love to win the $100,000 wedding designed by celebrity wedding planner Yifat Oren, allowing us to host an even more awesome ceremony and reception for even more of our closest friends. We'll settle for any of the Crate & Barrel prizes, though, which will help stock our kitchen. Check out our entry, and please vote for us if you haven't yet. You can vote once per email address.
And if that wasn't enough, Theo has entered a contest sponsored by the Indianapolis Colts to host UpClose, the Colts' weekly television show. Theo created a video for the contest, check it out and vote for him on Facebook. The Colts will pick a finalist each week until the end of May where there will be judging to pick the final winner to host the Colts show. (Oh, and win $1,000; that part's not too bad either.)
